Local Authorities

Carbon Neutral Northleach is an independent community initiative set up by Northleach-resident volunteers.

We have the full support of our Town Council and we’re in liaison with both Cotswold District Council and Gloucestershire County Council.

Our Local Authorities are all working hard to reduce our county’s emissions and their own websites are a valuable resource for us all.

Northleach with Eastington Town Council

‘The Carbon Neutral Northleach initiative has the ongoing support of the Town Council.  The Council has provided direct financial support for capital expenditure through the Community Grants Scheme annually since the group was founded.

‘Town Council members are also involved in planning for the proposed Green Ring walking route around the town and some initial infrastructure funding has been included in the Council’s budget.’

Terry Morley-Blackwell, Council Chairman.

Cotswold District Council

“Cotswold District Council stands fully behind this initiative to improve the environment in Northleach and surrounding parishes. The Council is promoting green growth and a fully sustainable environment for the future, for our children and for our communities. This is an important and bold first step for Northleach.”

Tony Dale
(Cabinet Member for Economy & Skills Cotswold District Councillor for Northleach Ward)

Gloucestershire County Council

“All across the world people are realising that unless urgent action is taken to control and limit carbon emissions, a catastrophe will result. In the Cotswolds, the district council has already declared a Climate Emergency and this great initiative in Northleach is a brilliant example of how individual communities can do their bit for the planet. Please get involved if you can.”

Cllr Paul Hodgkinson
(Gloucestershire County Council, Bourton and Northleach)
